The case in which Mr. Victor Smith, special aide to former President Rawlings has been charged with threat of death, will be reopen for trial again.
Sources at the Attorney-General?s Department, hinted Daily Guide that the case will soon be listed at an Accra Circuit Court for trial.
The case was put on hold because the circuit court Judge, Emmanuel Ankamah, who was trying the case, was transferred to Koforidua thus temporarily putting the case on hold.
Victor Smith who has pleaded not guilty to the charge is accused of allegedly authorizing a five paragraph document in which he warned Mr. Kweku Baako, the managing editor of the Crusading Guide and Mrs. Amoakohene, a lecturer at the School of Communication Studies (SCS), University of Ghana, Legon, to stop attacking former President Rawlings or be crushed to death.
Mr. Kweku Baako Jnr. who gave evidence as a prosecutor witness, told the court that he felt threatened by the contents of the letter he received on Tuesday March 19, 2003, which warned him and Mrs. Margaret Amoakohene, to cease their attacks on the person of former President Rawlings.
He indicated that his fears were heightened when he received an anonymous call 30 minutes later, asking him whether he had received that particular letter, and that he should take it seriously because it meant more than an open letter.
