The Deputy Minister for Communications, Victoria Hammah, has taunted the deputy communications director for the opposition NPP after he was barred from attending the election petition hearing.

An apologetic Sammy Awuku was on Wednesday banned by the Supreme Court from attending the ongoing election petition hearing after he described the judges sitting on the case as “selective and discriminatory”.

He was, however, pardoned from receiving a heavy punishment from the Supreme Court after lawyers from both sides appealed with the court to tamper justice with mercy.

The Ghana Bar Association in a reaction described the Supreme Court’s action as "mild but a good start".

Spokesperson for the GBA, Mr. Tony Forson, said Mr Awukus's ban from attending the election petition hearing will ensure that the sanctity of the Judiciary is protected.

However, on the Facebook wall of the Deputy Minister of Communications, Hon. Victoria Hammah described Mr. Awuku as a “young man with no working experience” who “disgustingly criticized her nomination”

Hon. Hammah wrote “Sammy Awuku has indeed seen his real size! Young man with no working experience only participated in opposition politics and suddenly gained PHD to disgustingly criticize my nomination as Deputy Minister for Communication. I agree with the GBA position”.
