President John Dramani Mahama Tuesday evening delivered his new year message to the people of Ghana, calling on Ghanaians to join him in thinking and working for Ghana.

The president in a live telecast on GTV said despite the challenges that confronted the nation in 2013 “we must enter the coming year with the hope, confidence and the determination to make our country live up to the promise of our founding fathers”.

“We are at the early stages of dramatic developments in our urban transport network, marine and port development, Aviation sector, Energy, Manufacturing and Business; and I am proud as your president to have the honour to lead our country into this new era of property and opportunity” President Mahama said.

He said government is ready to create a partnership with all groups and international friends for the development of the country. He pledged to “work to restore the confidence and trust of our people so that we can all have a significant state in this country”.

In congratulating the Black Stars for the third successive qualification for the World Cup, President Mahama said "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going," adding, the Stars will be able to surmount the hurdle and give a good account of themselves in Brazil next year.
