Accra, Sept.30, GNA- The Alumni of Mensah Sarbah Hall also known as Vikings of the University of Ghana have expressed shock and sorrow following the death of Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minster of Finance and Economic Planning. In press release signed by Yaw Adjei Afriyie Nketia, National Secretary of the Alumni on Tuesday said the death of Baah-Wiredu is not a loss only to the nation, family and friends as well as the "Vandals" but also to Vikings. "We have always maintain our friendly rivalry with our brothers, "the Vandals" and the sudden death of the Honourable Finance Minister is not only a loss to the nation, his family and friends, as well as the Vandals but also to us," the Vikings stated. They said, the late Baah-Wiredu was the person who urged and motivated them, when they decided to raise funds through The Vikings Investment Fund to build a hostel to support the University of Ghana, adding; "Vikings should not allow this historic initiative in the annals of the history of Ghana to fail". The Vikings added that it was Baah-Wiredu's conviction that they were able to "blaze the trail" and that all other alumni remained committed to that goal. Vikings said their hearts are out there with government and the people of Ghana, his family and love ones as well as their Vandal brothers. 30 Sept. 08
