Village acquires facilities to promote development

Gomoa Fetteh (C/R), Dec. 14, GNA - Two buses, an ambulance, a tractor and its accessories, a Bible Study Resource Centre, and a three-classroom block, all estimated at 120,000 dollars have been commissioned at the Gomoa Fetteh Village of Hope in the Central Region. The buses and the school block were donated by the Church of Christ in the United States of America, the Netherlands and Germany toward the running of the Orphanage.

Inaugurating the facilities, Mr John Sackey, Board Chairman of the Home, expressed appreciation to the donors and them that good cars would be taken of them.

He said the Home needed both financial and material support to expand its services to as many street children as it could in an around Gomoa Fetteh.

Mr Fred Assure, Managing Director of the Village, said the village and facilities catered for 62 residential and 48 non-residential children. He said the village was also having 50 street girls and 70 boys, as well as four teenagers who were learning vocational skills. He said the Village has an enrolment of 206 pupils drawn from the Orphanage, and 14 others from nearby communities.

The Managing Director said the Village was in constant need of financial assistance to enable them to cater for more children and appealed to Ghanaian and foreign donors to support the Home. Nana Abor Yamoah II, chief of the area, said there had plenty local and foreign investment in the area, but the investment in the Village of Hope supersedes all the others.

He said investment in human resources was one of the greatest undertakings, which could bring significant benefit to the society. Nana Yamoa therefore, asked the Board and Management of the Village to continue the good and sacrificial services they were rendering to street children and orphans.
