There is growing tension at Nkrukan in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region over the installation of a parallel Chief.

The traditional stool in Nkrukan has remained vacant for a year due to chieftaincy dispute that shrouded the nomination of a candidate among the Akwetey gate which is part of three gates -, Agbozo and Badu royal families legible to occupy the stool.

The outdooring of Nene Gbojor Kasa 1, known in private life as Emma Kasa,a prison officer with the Koforidua prisons triggered violent actions between the Badu and Akwetey gates.

The Badu gate stormed the venue for the coronation of Nene Gbojor Kasa 1, to disrupt his installation.

They claim they had already installed Solomon Agboso Badu, a police detective corporal a few weeks ago.

The tensed atmosphere that characterized the traditional ceremony attracted heavy security presence in the community.

There was over 20 armed Police personnel led by DSP Daniel Yaro, the Effidusase District Commander and acting District Commander of New Juaben, Superintendent Kofi Blagogie patrolled the town the whole day.

The Police team in a closed-door meeting with the leaders of the feuding factions agreed the venue for the intended ceremony be changed.

Kwaku Ansah who speaks for the Akwetey gate told journalists it is only a court of competent jurisdiction that can halt the installation.

A youth leader in the community, Nene Odoi Kofi told journalists their aim as youth group was not to foment trouble but to ensure that the rightful candidate occupies the stool.

The outdooring of Nene Gbojor Kasa, however, went on without hitches.

In his address to his people, Nene Gbojor Kasa said while ensuring development in the area, he will liaise with his elders to bring total peace.
