Accra, June 23, GNA - The German Embassy on Friday said the duration period of visas of supporters of the Black Stars could and should be extended in Germany. In a congratulatory message to the Black Stars, who have sailed into the knock-out stage of the World Cup, the Embassy said: "Naturally, we are also excited about all the fans, who quite understandably wish to extend their stay in Germany to cheer the Black Stars during the matches to come." "If necessary, fans should approach the local immigration authorities providing sufficient financial means and hotel accommodation for the intended extra stay in Germany." The Embassy said the Ghana Football Association would also be informed in order to contact the immigration authorities concerned to provide them with further information.

"The respective immigration authorities in Germany have been asked by the German Embassy in Accra to provide assistance to Ghanaian fans, if necessary." Some fans had been complaining that they could not stay to support the Stars in the Ghana-Brazil duel because their visas would have expired by then.
