Vodafone assists three institutions with computers

Accra, May 12, GNA - Management of Vodafone Ghana on Wednesday presented 20 computers and accessories worth GH¢10,000 to three institu= tions to boost their Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres. They were the Industrial Area District of Ghana National Fire Servic= e (GNFS), Kaneshie Senior High and Technical School and the Akatsi District=

Education Directorate.

Making the presentation in Accra, Mr Isaac Abraham, Corporate Communications Manager, said it formed part of their social responsibilit= y initiatives to enhance teaching and learning of ICT especially in schools= in deprived areas. "The donation also seeks to support government's effort in making ICT=

accessible to all Junior and Senior High Schools nation-wide," he said. Mr James Emmanuel Quao, Industrial Area District Fire Officer who received the items on behalf of the beneficiary institutions, expressed appreciation to the management of Vodafone and gave the assurance that th= e computers would be well utilised. He said it would assist the GNFS to create a data base on fire out-breaks and submitting its reports on time. The management of Vodafone has so far presented 206 computers to 25 institutions and schools in the country. Some of the beneficiaries include, Akropong School for the Blind, Adenta Fire Service, Faculty of Agriculture of KNUST, Mount Mary Teacher Training College, Piina Senior High School, Chiana Senior High School, Ramseyer Training Centre, Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Hospital, Nima Police Directorate, and Kongo Senior High School.
