The paramount chief of the Vakpo Traditional Area in the North Dayi constituency of the Volta region, Togbe Gbogbolulu V, has backed the NPP's campaign promise of establishing a factory in each district of the country, should the party win the 2016 election.

Dubbed, the 'one-district-one-factory’, the policy is intended to lead the industrialization agenda of a Nana Addo-led NPP government, which will also create employment for the teeming unemployed youth across the country.

This, the Vakpo chief believes, is in the right direction and appealed for the inclusion of the North Dayi district among the early beneficiaries of the policy, should the NPP get the nod of Ghanaians at the polls.

Togbe Gbogbolulu told Nana Addo, who paid a courtesy call on him on Monday as part of his 5-day campaign tour of the Volta region that, "we have identified with your manifesto, especially with particular reference to your one-district-one-factory and yearly release of one million dollars to every constituency for development and job creation.

"My appeal to you is that, if God willing you are given the chance as the president, North Dayi should be among the first beneficiaries in the country of this important proposed programme."

The chief in a similar vein, urged the NPP to operationalized a $2 million export marketing and Quality Awareness Centre started in the area under the Kufuor government in 2006 and completed in 2010 but have since been left to rot.

"It will interest you to know that, in 2006, the then government started an Export Marketing and Quality Awareness Centre here in Vakpo, with initial huge amount of $2million, which was one of three projects in the sub-region.

"Despite the fact that the project was completed in 2010 and the plant tested and approved to be of good standard, to our surprise, the Centre has been abandoned till date. We therefore appeal to you to get it operational, if given the power in order to create job for our teeming youth," he stated.

The NPP Presidential candidate is the Volta region, a stronghold of the governing NDC, to court the support of the residents for the NPP change agenda in the December 2016 elections.

He is accompanied by his party stalwarts from the national and regional level, including a former minister of state, Madam Elizabeth Ohene and former Volta regional minister, Nana Owusu Yeboah.
