The Volta Regional Deputy Minister Kofi Gyamesi has refuted the former government's claims to development projects in the region, stating that virtually nothing exist there.
He said this during a unity and development forum organised by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology branch of the Volta Region Students Association (VORA).
The aim of the forum was to develop ties with the mother region and promote its cultural, social and economic development.
Mr. Gyamesi charged Voltarians especially students to accept postings to the region to help its development process.
He assured the students that the NPP is aware of the problems of the region and has therefore entrusted a high powered team to tackle them.
Mr. Gyamesi called on Voltarians to emulate the patriotism, hard work and contributions others are making towards the development of their regions. He appealed for investment in the region, disclosing that the region has been connected to the internet and could be accessed by persons, corporate bodies and groups dedicated to its development.
The VORA president Evans Ameade asked the youth to channel their energies into accelerating the development of the area.
He acknowledged that although the region abounds in human and natural resources, the refusal of the youth to return there after school has led to the slow pace of development.
He said VORA in embarking on vigorous marketing of the regions potentials and appealed to all Ghanaians to help.
Mr. Ameade asked the Volta regional house of chiefs to solve all chieftaincy disputes for peace to prevail in the region.
