Vote for NPP, vote for more hardship - Parliamentary Candidate

Accra, Sept 4, GNA - Mr. Isaac Mensah, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikoi South Constituency has said Ghanaians should expect more hardship ahead if they make the mistake to vote to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in office.

He explained that simple basic economic principles indicated that when inflation and interest rate had gone down then the purchasing power must go up, but that was not the case now, he asked. "How can we live in a society where poverty has engulfed the whole nation while only few people are enjoying?"

Mr Mensah who was addressing NDC supporters at Kaneshie in Accra, reminded the members of the bad policies of the NPP which had left the nation with so many problems, such high corruption, armed robberies, lack of basic amenities like water and the collapse of the energy sector as well as lack of jobs.

He said the nation needed a selfless leader like Professor John Atta Mills who cared about the people to bring a new vision to transform their lives.

On his agenda for the constituency, he would, together with the people prioritise the needs in the community and think about their solutions.

He said, "we must supervise by ourselves the content of education our children get from their schools, the quality of food sold in the communities and the aspirations of the youth."

Mr Mensah reminded the electorate that, "before a politician outlines his manifesto he or she already had the youth in mind to mould them to lead decent lives, unfortunately with Nana Akomea's 12 years in Parliament there was no progress in the constituency." Madam Nubyl Kakra Vanlare, second Greater Accra Regional Vice Chairperson of the NDC, urged the youth to bury all their differences and vote wisely this time for the party.

Mr Richard Quaye, Constituency Chairman, urged the supporters to be vigilant at the polling stations and protect all forms of loopholes which were the reasons why the party lost in 2004.
