Vote of no confidence passed on NPP executives in Keta

Keta (V/R), Oct. 24, GNA - A special conference of polling station chairmen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Keta Constituency on Monday passed a vote of no confidence in their eight-member executive. "We have lost confidence in the present executive and so withdraw our support and cooperation with them," the resolution stated.

The resolution copied to the NPP national and regional offices, as well as the Regional Minister and Chief of Staff, accused the executive of ineffectiveness, gross violation of the Party constitution and other irregularities.

All the 52 of the 67 Polling Station Chairmen present, led by Mr Senanu Dotse of the Anlo-Afiadenyigba station endorsed the resolution. The conference, which was held at the Keta Beach Hotel, demanded convocation of an emergency delegates' conference for a final decision on the resolution.

The resolution damned the executive for its attempts in recent times to damage the integrity of the District Chief Executive, Mr Edward Kofi Ahiabor and the NPP in the media, adding that the executive were doing so out of greed in their clamour for project contracts to the embarrassment to the Party.

"During the last mop-up registration exercise, the executives criminally engaged single party agents for each station instead of two for which money was released and squandered the difference," the resolution alleged.

It also accused the executive of "appropriating and diverting all cash and material donations, made up of bicycles, motorbikes and corn mills made to the constituency by well-meaning people". The resolution dismissed allegations of graft against the DCE as "baseless".

Three out of the eight executives, namely Razzy Ahiakonu, Second Vice-Chairman, George Tsidi, Assistant Secretary and George Sedor, the Youth Organiser endorsed the resolution.

Mr Shelter Adjorlolo, Organiser, when reached on telephone denied the accusations, claiming that the DCE and his cohorts were trying to push the executives out because of their stand against bad deeds in the administration of the district. 24 Oct. 06
