Voters defy morning rains to get their photographs taken in Edina and

Elmina (C/R), June 7, GNA - The morning rains in the Elmina and Cape Coast Municipality on Monday disrupted the early start of the Photographs-taking exercise, which was to begin at 0700 hours. Many people however, defied the three-hour rains and went to their polling centres to have their photographs taken, a visit by the GNA to some of the polling centres showed that the exercise was going on smoothly.

At the Elmina Market Square Polling Centre, 110 people had taken their photographs as at 1120 hours.

Mr Lewis Oppong the Officer in charge of the Centre said the exercise was going on smoothly and that they had all the materials, except the checklist and a pair of scissors to facilitate their work.

At the CPB Lime Street Centre, people had queued to have their photographs taken and as at 1130 hours, 102 people had taken their photographs and at the GWSL Centre, 150 had taken their photos as at 1135 hours.

At the Blessed House Centre, Ms Abigail Arthur, officer in charge, said the Centre had enough materials for the exercise apart from the check list and that 148 people were covered as at 1145 hours, whiles at the Sea View Centre, 120 people had taken their photographs at 1155 hours.

Centres the GNA visited in the Cape Coast Municipality had taken the photographs of 479 people by 1300 hours.

At the Legion Hall A and B, 52 and 55 voters had taken their photographs respectively by 1150hours, whiles 67 people had had their photographs taken at the Castle Registration Centre by 12 noon.

The Central Mosque recorded a total number of 143 as at 1233 hours, whiles the Municipal Assembly Centre A and B also had 66 and 35, respectively.

At the Cooperative Office Centre, 51 people had had their photographs taken as at 1245 hours.

The photographs-taking exercise, which is to last for six days would cover a total number of 903,353 registered voters in the 1,763 polling stations in the Central Region.
