The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Fifi Kwetey has said Ghanaians will do the country a disservice if they elect New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as President.

According to him, after eight years of economic mismanagement, economic disappointment, and hardship under the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), it is time for Ghanaians to select a brighter future.

Addressing a large crowd of NDC supporters at the party's final rally at Zurak Park in Madina on Thursday, December 5, ahead of the December 7 general elections, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey urged Ghanaians to make a bold statement by voting against the NPP to show that they are not willing to continue enduring the mismanagement of the NPP government.

Mr. Kwetey cautioned against complacency and hinted to the catastrophic implications that would follow a victory by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Saturday is a day where all of our ancestors will be watching to see how ready you are to fight for our country. ...Fight for Ghana, fight for the victory of this beautiful country because if we make the mistake and Bawumia wins on Saturday, this country is virtually gone,” he said.

He added “It is a fight not for NDC, it is a fight for the very soul and survival and the future of our country.”

Ghanaians will go to the polls on December 7 to elect a President and 276 Parliamentarians to govern the country for the next four years.

The election promises to be keenly contested between the two biggest political parties: the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP is determined to win the election to continue its transformative agenda, but the NDC has vowed to wrest power, claiming it will "reset" the country while accusing the NPP of mismanaging the economy.
