Cape Coast, Dec.28, GNA - Voting in 149 out of 572 electoral areas i= n the Central Region has been rescheduled for Thursday because ballot papers for the District Level Elections (DLE) were not ready when the exercise began on Tuesday.
Mr Samuel Tettey, Regional Electoral Officer, told the GNA that the ballot papers for the affected electoral areas, which spread across all the 17 districts of the Region, had not arrived in the Region, but expressed th= e hope that they would be ready by Thursday to enable voters in those areas t= o exercise their franchise.
Mr Anthony Nyame, Cape Coast Metropolitan Electoral Officer, said nine out of the 45 electoral areas in Cape Coast were affected. Meanwhile the general atmosphere at the various polling stations was calm as voters trickled in to cast their votes. At the Elmina Neizer's Gardens 93A" and 93B" Polling Stations 307 voters out of the 2,034 registered had cast their votes as at 1120 hours. Ms Gifty Koomson and Mr Paddy Mensah, presiding officers, told the GNA that voting had been progressing smoothly. At Jukwa, near Cape Coast, the ballot papers arrived at 11.05 hours an= d immediately, the officers in charge started the exercise.
