Domeabra (Ash), Sept. 8, GNA - Mr Stephen Balado Manu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo-Ano South, has described as unreasonable the decision by some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote for the flagbearer of the Party but vote otherwise in respect of the parliamentary in the upcoming December elections.
"Let us all uphold the ideologies of the Danquah-Busia tradition for the progress of the Party," he stated and stressed that the time has come for well-meaning supporters to bury their differences, and go all out in supporting all NPP candidates in the elections. Addressing party supporters at separate rallies at Abesewa, Pokukrom, Sabronum and Domeabra on his campaign tour of the constituency at the weekend, Mr Manu said for the policies and initiatives of the President to be successful and well implemented it needed the support of majority of its party members in Parliament.
He said as a result of this "choosing a different parliamentary candidate and voting for the flagbearer of the NPP (skirt and blouse) was totally out of order and unacceptable".
The MP explained government policies and programmes to the teeming supporters and said the NPP had come a long way in putting the once 'hopeless' Ghanaian economy on track, saying "we should all therefore resolve and vote massively for the Party in the elections". This, he said would go a long way in helping the leadership of the Party to continue with its good works especially in the fields of health, education, agriculture and industry. Mr Manu urged the supporters to eschew all forms of violence and resolve to go about their campaigns peacefully. Alhaji Mamuda, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Nasara Club of the NPP, debunked the notion that the Party belong to only Akans and that the NPP will drive away citizens who were perceived to be foreigners.
