Takoradi, March 24, GNA - A Takoradi District Magistrate Court on Wednesday sentenced Kojo Appoh, a 19-year-old vulcanizer, to nine months' imprisonment in hard labour for fraud.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Alice Parker-Wilson told the court that in February 2003, one Joe introduced the complainant, Ama Duah, who was in need of accommodation, to the accused.

Appoh took the complainant to a room in a house at Kwesiministim and told the complainant he needed 600,000 cedis from her to complete repair works on the window and door of the room.

Appoh assured the complainant that the repairs would be completed in three days but after receiving the money the accused person vanished.
