Some vulnerable persons and residents in the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly who have been reeling under the pressures of the novel Coronavirus will tomorrow, May 12, 2020, receive some food and other relief items.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly forms part of government’s efforts to mitigate the economic effects of the global pandemic on the vulnerable in society.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, Hajia Salma Adams Kuta, said the Assembly received the relief items from the Ghana National Buffer Stock Company for onward distribution to residents.

“It’s actually government’s food which is given out to each and every municipality as the president said in his nation’s address that he’ll be giving food to the various assemblies to share to the vulnerable…We received the food from buffer stock and then we’re now packaging them,” Hajia Salma Adams Kuta noted.

She said the distribution would be appropriately undertaken in all the 11 electoral areas in the municipality to ensure fairness.

“We’re starting distribution tomorrow in all the areas, so we’ll start electoral area by electoral area. We have 11 electoral areas so we’re going to start…We have rice, gari, tin tomatoes, sardines, oil and others…”

Hajia Salma Adams Kuta assured residents and the vulnerable of total fairness in the distribution process.
