W/R House of Chiefs Marks End of Year Meeting

The Western Regional House of Chiefs have held its end-of-year general meeting in Sekondi to deliberate on development at issues and review performance in the management of chieftaincy problems in the Region.

The President, the House, and Omanhene of Wassa Akropong Traditional Area, Nana Bassanyi 111 decried the many chieftaincy disputes and conflicts pending before the House for resolution. He said such conflicts constitute a major assault on peace and tranquillity in the region, which send negative signals to both local and foreign investors.

Regrettably, he said the region is already deprived and such negative actions complicate the already volatile situation by not only halting the development process by also destroy the little gains made.

He called on the Chiefs to their ranks to forge ahead with a common purpose for the service of the people.

The President urged the chiefs to support the governments Golden Age of Business initiative to make the private sector a true engine of growth.

He noted that the House of Chiefs can support this effort by the creation of land banks to help make land available to potential investor in the various traditional areas in view of the peculiar nature of the region which arable land, and naturally endowed resources.

He noted that the Regina urgently needs an enabling environment devoid of chieftaincy disputes to attract the needed support for Government, District Assemblies and investors not only to develop the Region and help create employment for the youth.
