WA Nobles fail punctuality test

Accra, May 8, GNA - The West Africa Nobles Forum (WANF) a non-governmental, non-religious and non-profit-making organization on Friday failed punctuality test when they turned-up almost two hours late for its 9th Annual conference in Accra.

Some Journalists who were astonished by the lack of time consciousness on the part of the Nobles expressed disgust, questioning the moral objective of the Nobles who believes that moral regeneration is the key to the eradication of most of the ills bedevilling the sub-region today.

According to WANF objectives it aimed at promoting honesty, accountability and dedication to duty by government officials, public servants and private businessmen and women.

The Forum is charged with the responsibility of embarking on mediation mission, enlightenment campaigns, conferences and seminars, on transparency, honesty, probity and accountability in public and private lives of her people.

The Right Reverend Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, Chairman of WANF Board of Trustee, said WANF, with its headquarters in Accra, Ghana was established in October 2003 and has a membership of about 800. He described WANF as sub-regional think-tank fashion after the Philosophical Society of America which includes statesmen, legal luminaries, politicians, research fellows, techn ocrats, medical giants, professionals and captains of industries.

Rev. Fynn said the objective of the body is to assemble eminent West Africans with vast experience in their chosen fields of endeavour, who meet periodically to deliberate and proffer solutions to the myriad of problems confronting the sub-region. "As you are aware, the West Africa sub-region is ravaged by corruption, greed and selfishness. These vices in our society have collectively jettisoned some of the cherished ideals and dreams of the founding fathers of the West African Community," he said. Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Health, Dr Benjamin Kunbour, Deputy Minister of Health expressed concern about stressful attitude adopted by most Ghanaians. He challenged Ghanaians to exercise regularly, adopted healthy eating habit and consistent health check.

The forum awarded some eminent West Africans including Dr Benjamin T. Annan, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital; Mrs Nora Bernaman a Fashion Designer; and Mr Charles Agyebeng Yebuah, Chief Executive Officer of WACHID Real Estate Development. Others are Mr Raymond Abraham Tawiah, Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo Constituency; Prof. Dominic Kwaku Fobih, former Minister of Education; Dr Richard Anane, former Minister of Transport and Mr Kofi Asamoah General Secretary of the Ghana Trades Union Congress. Mr. Yidana Mahami,a Member of the Board of Trusted and the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Heavy Equipment Limited inducted the new members into the forum.
