Mr. Cephas Kwodwo Asimadi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of E-Vent Security Services in Accra has asserted that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) must deploy more stringent security measures to halt further occurrence of the examination leakages.
The security analyst’s call follows the leakage of at least three examination papers in the on-going West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE). Indications are that the exam questions have gone viral especially in the Greater Accra and Eastern regions.
Speaking to Atinkaonline Thurday, Mr. Asimadi said, WAEC must review their security checks. He said it is important for the council to strictly monitor the exams from one stage to the other as soon as it leaves the center until it reaches its final destination. This measure when implemented he said, would avoid the leakage of papers and restore credibility and dignity to the exams council.
He entreated WAEC to adopt more rigorous security measure other than the seal to ensure that exams questions remain interact.
Touching on the assertion that the exams questions are leaked by the police while in their custody, Cephas Asimadi debunked the claim . He called on the public to have confidence in the police service and added that what is more important is to increase security checks.
Although the May /June WASSCE just started, there have been numerous reports of leakages of the exams questions. Atinkaonline can confirm that many students got the questions from social media platforms days before the examination dates .
The head of of WAEC, Rev. Samuel Nii Nmai Ollennu, told newsmen in Accra last month that the council had introduced new security measures to prevent leakages of exam papers .
