Ivan Bruce Cudjoe, the Chief Executive Officer for ‘Travel Matters’ has revealed that his Travel and Tours company was not responsible for the return of Ghanaian football fans flown to Brazil for the FIFA 2014 World Cup.

Hundreds of fans, including showbiz stars, were forced to spend the night in the open at Forteleza Airport after the pulsating 2-2 Ghana-Germany match during the Mundial.

Several fans were also left stranded in Brazil after the Black Stars were eliminated from the competition at the group stages. Over 200 others also sought asylum from the government of Brazil citing inter-religious conflicts in Ghana.

Appearing before the Justice Dzamefe commission Monday, Bruce Cudjoe stated that his sole responsibility was to fly fans to Brazil – bringing them back home was not part of his contract, which was agreed by word of mouth.

According to him, he had no written agreement with the Government of Ghana for his services – a revelation which got Justice Dzamefe exclaiming “Jesus Christ!”

“We were not guaranteed to bring back Ghana supporters from Brazil...it wasn’t our responsibility”.

Mr. Bruce Cudjoe added that: “We were just supposed to make the airline available on the tarmac”.
