WR Ahmadiyya hold 20th conference in Takoradi

Takoradi, Oct 03, GNA - Mr Philip Kwesi Nkrumah, the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Chief Executive, has called on churches and religious organisations to initiate human resource development programmes to complement the government's efforts. He made the call when addressing the 20th Annual Western Regional Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission at Takoradi. The conference was under the theme "The Role of Religion in the Maintenance of World Peace".

Mr Nkrumah said human resources development was a priority of the government and it would be a step in the right direction for religious bodies to have complimentary human resource development programmes. He said religious bodies are assisting the government to improve education and health sectors and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission is playing significant roles in both areas.

While commending the Mission, Mr Nkrumah urged other religious bodies to emulate the Mission's shinning example.

Maulvi Abdul Wahab Bin Adam, Ameer and Missionary-in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, spoke against the involvement of some Muslims in terrorism and said Islam stood for peace and had nothing to do with terrorism.

Maulvi Adam said implication of some Muslims in terrorism in some parts of the world did not mean that the religion condoned terrorism. Mr Ayyub Morgan, Western Regional President of the Mission, said the religion has been established in seven out of the eleven districts in the region.

He said Ahmadis are contributing to the development of their areas and the Mission would collaborate with the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly to carry out development programmes.
