WR PSWU Chairman retain office

Ketan (W/R), July 31, GNA - Mr. Ellis Ankomah, Senior Field Officer of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), was on Wednesday re-elected Western Regional Chairman of the Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC). He polled 65 votes to defeat Mr. Goodman Afful also of the NCCE, who had 10 votes at the Seventh Regional Delegates Conference of the Union at Ketan near Sekondi.

Mr. Joshua Debrah-Gyamfi of the Electoral Commission (EC) and Mrs. Elisabeth Amissah of the Audit Service, were returned unopposed for the positions of Vice Chairman and second Vice Chairperson respectively. Mr. Stephen E. Tikoli of the NCCE defeated Mr. Tahiru Mohammed of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by 38 votes to 35 for the position of First Trustee while Mrs. Faustina Azumah-Asamoning was elected unopposed as the Second Trustee.

Mr. Horatius Y. Quaye, Deputy General Secretary of the PSWU, reminded the executives to transform the union into a new and dynamic workforce. He urged branches of the union to be active, committed and vibrant. Mr. Quaye advised workers to avoid absenteeism, lateness, apathy and petty squabbles at the work place.

Mr. Ankomah expressed his appreciation to the delegates for re-electing him and pledged to work hard to transform the union.
