Wa-Na Wants Assemblies To Promote Arts And Culture

Wa The Wa-Na Momori Bondiri, Paramount Chief of the Wala Traditional area, has called on district assemblies in the Upper West region to contribute towards the promotion of arts and culture in the region. He appealed to the region's five district assemblies to contribute part of their share of the district assemblies common fund to put up a theatre at Wa. The Wa-Na made the suggestion after watching a play entitled "Musu - Father of the Slave" performed by the Ghana Dance Ensemble at the Wa community centre last night. The performance was the last in a series of a month-long tour of the regional capitals by the national dance ensemble. "Musu" depicts the history of the slave trade. More than 7,000 people watched the performance.
