Wa-Na Yakubu Seidu Soale is dead

Wa, Sept. 5, GNA - The Wa-Na, Alhaji Yakubu Seidu Soale II, paramount chief of the Wala traditional area in the Upper West region, died Monday morning and was buried at the Wala Royal Mausoleum after Muslim and traditional burial rites.

According to palace sources, the Wa-Na, aged 81, on Monday morning went back to his bedroom after saying early mo rning prayers only to be found dead about one-and-a-half hours later.

Although he was enskinned paramount chief in 2001, he was eventually outdoored in 2005 because of litigations over the paramountcy. The Supreme Court later upheld an earlier judgment in his favour by the Regional House of Chiefs.

He left behind six wives, 36 children and 18 grand children. In his private life, the late Wa-Na was a farmer and a businessman. In related development, the Upper West Regional Minister, Mr Ambrose Dery, who consoled the bereaved family, had presented four maxi bags of maize and four mini bags of rice on behalf of the Regional Coordinating Council, while the Wa Municipal Assembly also presented two maxi bags of maize and two mini bags of rice and a sheep to the bereaved family.

The Guli-Naa, Seidu Braimah who received the donation, expressed the family's gratitude for gifts.
