"Waakye" on DC Sidewalks?

EARLIER THIS WEEK, Express asked readers to submit suggestions about kinds of cuisine they'd like to see sidewalk vendors offer in D.C. Officials are now considering a vendor expansion, and a survey of residents and workers indicated that a majority want a greater variety of culinary offerings.

Responses ranged from Korean barbecue to "anything with meat." And then there was a request for Ghanaian treats like waakye (rice and beans), fish and black shito (a spicy pepper sauce). That's certainly a departure from a sidewalk hot dog and pretzel.
