Wahome employee charged for stealing iron rods

Tema, Feb. 28, GNA -- Luck run out of an employee of Wahome Steel Company Limited at Tema when after succeeding in stealing iron rods belonging to his employers and kept in his home was eventually arrested by another employee who was passing by the house.

Stephen Nkansah, a factory hand had stolen pieces of iron rods from the factory at the industrial area and kept it in his house at Ashaiman but in the evening of that fateful day a supervisor of the company saw it in the house.

Nkansah pleaded not guilty and was granted 10 million cedis bail to re-appear on March 17.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Christopher Caicoe told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that about 7.30 pm last Monday, February 23, a supervisor of the company, who lives at Ashaiman was going to visit a friend.

On his way, he met the accused person holding the iron rods in his house and he took to his heels on seeing him (supervisor) who after close examination noticed that it came from the factory. He said the supervisor lodged a complaint with the Ashaiman police whose investigations revealed that the accused person stole the item from the factory and was later arrested from his hide-out.
