Hugely-talented Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso has signed a bumper extension to his expiring contract with Portuguese top-flight side Rio Ave, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 23-year-old, who is the younger brother of Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso, signed a one-year extension to his contract which expires in June next year.

The new contract will expire in June 2017.

Ghana's leading football news outlet GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively revealed last week that the deal was in the offing and now it has been sealed.

Wakaso has been consistent for Rio Ave this season in the Portuguese top flight

Alhassan has played in 9 out of the 10 league games for coach Pedro Martin’s side and has been nominated for the clubs player of the month for October.

The midfielder joined Rio Ave permanently from Portimonense and has been worth all the money since his arrival.
