Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), May 5, GNA - The two Dormaa Assemblies last Wednesday endorsed the President's nominees for the post of Chief Executives in separate polls at Wamfie and Dormaa-Ahenkro. Mr Eric Opoku, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, was present at the two functions supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC). At Wamfie, Dormaa East District capital, Mr. Isaac Kwabena Kyeremeh scored 100 percent when all the 27 assembly members voted in his favour. He pledged to champion the people's development aspirations and appealed to the assembly members to rally behind him in the spirit of peace, unity and consensus building.

Mr Kyeremeh said with the 2008 elections over, decision-making at the local government level must be collective and devoid of partisan politics. Thirty-six out of 41 assembly members who cast their votes at Dormaa-Ahenkro gave assent to Vincent Oppong Asamoah, the nominee for Dormaa Municipal Assembly. Five of them rejected him. He thanked the assembly members for giving him the 88 percent endorsement and expressed his determination to operate an open-door policy with equal attention for all irrespective of party affiliation.

Mr. Asamoah acknowledged the efforts of the past governments in helping to improve the living standards of the people and reiterated the NDC government's resolve to sustain the momentum. Both Chief Executives stood on the ticket of the NDC as parliamentary candidates in their respective constituencies in the 2008 general election.
