The Bank of Ghana has denied an allegation by the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) that the Governor of the Central Bank, Henry Kofi Wampah, has been living in a hotel since his appointment in 2012.

AFAG in a statement on Monday, September 29, alleged that the Central Bank governor resides in a hotel facility at a monthly cost of US$12,500 which amounts to US$350,000 between the time he was appointed till date.

The statement called for an immediate investigation into the matter.

The allegations come in the wake of the accommodation controversy regarding the CHRAJ boss, Vivian Lauretta Lamptey.

Reacting to the issue, the Head of Financial Stability at the Bank, Dr. Benjamin Amoah, told StarrFMonline.com that the claims are untrue.

“The Governor has been living in the same residence Dr Mahamudu Bawumia lived when he was Deputy Governor, and even after he was elevated as Governor he still lives in the same apartment,” he clarified.
