Wanted! Kennedy Agyapong on the run

The leading member of the comity of braggarts, self-acclaimed heaviest financier of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, has been declared a wanted person.

Mr. Agyapong, who is well noted for his bragging prowess, is wanted not by the security agencies but by supporters of his party. Apart from the supporters, he is also wanted by some top guns of the party, following Mr. Jake Obestebi-Lamptey’s claim that he has never received any contribution from Mr. Agyapong.

Mr. Agyapong, popularly called ‘Akompreko,’ had the impudence of calling the leadership of the NPP thieves, claiming they squandered his contributions.

For over 72 hours that the NPP Chairman, Mr. Obestebi-Lamptey, refuted Mr. Agyapong’s claim, he has been under perpetual hibernation.

Many NPP gurus and supporters expected Mr. Agyapong to fire back at Jake with documentation, but that was not to be.

Various media outlets, including The Enquirer newspaper, have tried in vain to hook up with him to react to what his party Chairman said.

In fact, there are even moves within the NPP to haul Mr. Agyapong before the Disciplinary Committee of the party to substitute his allegations against the national executives.

Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey, in responding to the accusation, said that Agyapong never bought any motorbikes for the NPP as he has been claiming on the airwaves. “I have not received any motorbikes or anything from Kennedy Agyapong,” Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey said this Monday.

According to him, “I have been national chairman for the past four years, and I have never had Kennedy Agyapong bring me anything, either for a personal thing or for the party?"

“The only money I know of is the monthly deductions that MPs make to help run the party,” he added.

Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey protested: “I have not stolen before. I have never been called a thief until recently, and I strongly resent being called a thief.”

He said: “For over 25 years I was spending monies on behalf of some of the major companies in this country – Unilever, Kumasi Brewery, Guinness, etc; so many of the major companies trusted me to spend their money. In all those years, nobody ever accused me of misspending their money or taking it for myself. I came out of spending other people’s money with an unblemished reputation.”

The former Cabinet Minister in the Kufuor administration said he found it be fuddling that his own party member will tag him and other top party executives as thieves.

NPP insiders have already described Mr. Agyapong’s Outburst as unnecessary and uncalled for.

In the latter part of last year, Mr. Agyapong hit town claiming that he could lead the NPP in 2016.

The NPP insiders are of the view that should Mr. Agyapong get the nod to lead he could not work with the executives because he sees them as thieves.
