....Herbert And Konadu Can Pursue Their Evil Political Agenda?

Nicolo Machiavelli (1469 – 1527), was an Italian philosopher cum political writer, famous for his short political treaties, “The Prince”, written in 1513. In ‘The Prince’, Machiavelli espouses lots of theories about how to gain political power and maintain such power.

For Machiavelli, man’s existence revolves around political power and it is important to at all times seek political power and once gotten, must never be lost or handed over.

According to Machiavelli, “The End Justifies The Means” and so in search of political power, everything and anything must be done and once the power is secured, the means to the end will be justified.

Nicolo’s surname gave birth to the modern political word “Machiavellianism” which means “the use of cunning and deceitful tactics in politics”.

Machiavelli’s political philosophy has come to be adopted and accepted by generations of politicians and power seekers and there is no gainsaying the fact that some Ghanaian politicians are disciples of Nicolo Machiavelli. There are Ghanaian politicians who will do anything just because they want political power; they will use deceit and subterfuge to get what they want. Indeed, sometimes, they will struggle to play the victim, so that they can win sympathy to their side.

Recent happenings ala Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and her blinded ambition to become President of Ghana, is making it very apparent that the one-time First Lady is prepared to do anything to give birth to her blinded and misguided political ambition. Supported by her son-in-law, Herbert Mensah, Konadu Agyemang Rawlings is trying to be more Machiavellian than Nicolo Machiavelli. In the wake of fire gutting the Ridge home of former President Rawlings and the attempt by Konadu to paint an untrue picture about the Atta Mills Administration not caring about the plight of the former first family, and with Herbert Mensah supporting his mother-in-law to the hilt, we have no option but to wonder if the Ridge house was not deliberately burnt so Herbert and his mother-in-law can execute their evil political agenda of painting President Mills black in order to score points for Konadu. A certain Nana Darkwa, in the immediate aftermath of the fire, let his tongue loose as regards the house being deliberately burnt. At that time, many were those who berated the young man for what was widely seen as his unguarded statement. Indeed, we on The Informer also berated the young man for his line of thought. But with the unfolding of events, is it possible that the young man was putting out the truth? When Herbert Mensah paid for Joy FM to host Konadu and she said that she and her family were still hunting for a place to rent, at a time that she (Konadu) knew that Government had made some offers which she personally turned down, what was she trying to do? So when she was painting a picture of being homeless with Government looking on unconcerned, was Konadu being extremely Machiavellian? Especially at a time that Herbert Mensah was also on Citi FM, that very morning that she was on Joy FM, to spread the same ‘HOMELESSNESS message,’ clearly, Konadu and her son in law were applying the Machiavellian theory of using cunning and deceitful tactics to further her political ambition. Upon hindsight, the multimillion dollar question is, was the house burnt down so that accommodation offers from Government will be refused, and then the picture will be painted that Atta Mills and his Government are being wicked to the Founder of the NDC and his family? According to Machiavelli “One who deceives, will always find those who allow themselves to be deceived”. Konadu, throughout her political career, has found people to deceive and so believes that at all times, there will be people who will swallow hook, line and sinker, her deceit. Unfortunately for Konadu, it did not take 24hrs for her lies to be exposed. As things stand now, everybody knows that Konadu lied on Joy FM and Herbert also lied on Citi FM. The plan, for which the two in-laws ceased the airwaves concurrently, last Wednesday, has backfired. Another Machiavellian quote has it that “Politics has no relation to morals”. As far as Konadu is concerned, politics has nothing to do with morality hence the Machiavellian tactics she has adopted to score cheap points within the ranks of the NDC by creating the impression that President Mills does not give a hoot about the Founder of the NDC and his family. But since God is not an “alata” man, Konadu and her son-in-law Herbert Mensah have been badly exposed. Herbert has been trying in vain to do some damage control but it is not working. As for Kofi Adams, we feel so sorry for him because he has run out of lies. Last Friday on Oman FM, Kofi Adams run away when he could not find any more lies to tell. Especially when he was asked why the Rawlingses are refusing to move to their plush Adjiriganor mansion, Kofi Adams was in sixes and sevens not knowing what lie to tell. Eventually, Kofi Adams had to run away from the interview. Poor Kofi Adams; nobody respects him any longer because of the lies that he has been telling. Kofi Adams should go and ask Victor Smith whether he is not having his peace of mind as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic. We can swear that if Victor Smith is given the chance to once again do the PR that he used to do for the former President and his wife, he will run away with the kind of speed that will make Usain Bolt jealous. And considering the fact that ever since she outdoored her presidential ambition on June 4th in Tamale, Konadu has been struggling to increase her public presence (visiting Ashaiman flood victims, wishing Black Stars well, etc), it is more than obvious that the woman is determined to do everything and anything to destroy President Atta Mills and his Administration. But thank God that Konadu does not hold the key to the minds of discerning NDC supporters. From the look of things Konadu and Herbert will try every evil trick under the sun but “man proposes and God disposes”. If the master himself, Nicolo Machiavelli did not live forever, we should all know that life is fleeting and so is political power, and that one fine day, we will all account for our stewardship on earth. President John Evans Atta Mills, our humble advise to you is to continue to pray to your God for his protection and once you do that and stay focused on your Better Ghana agenda, no weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper. As for those who think they can be more Machiavellian than Machiavelli, we will leave them to the Master himself; God!
