An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a 20-year-old washing bay attendant from the Central Region to three years in prison for impersonation and unlawful possession of military uniform.

This update was shared on X by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

According to details of the information, in 2024, Alex Cobbina posted a video which was monitored by the Ghana Navy, in which he made comments alleging remarks attributed to President John Dramani Mahama about dismissing military recruits who entered the service through protocol arrangements.

"Last year, Mr. Cobbina posted a video of himself in a camouflage trouser and a naval vest, claiming to be a military officer on 'TikTok,' a social media platform," it noted.

Alex Cobbina was also ordered by the court to pay a fine of GH₵12,000.

The Ghana Armed Forces further cautioned the public against such actions.

"The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) hereby cautions the general public to desist from making videos on social media for personal gains aimed at putting the image of the GAF into disrepute," it explained.
