Wassa East DCE chastises MP for sabotaging 1D-1F

District Chief Executive (DCE) of Wassa East, Wilson Arthur has taken a swipe at the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Isaac Adjei Mensah for sabotaging One District, One Factory (1D1F) projects initiated by the Assembly to provide employment to indigenes of the area especially the youth.

According to him, the MP is against the 1D1F initiative of President Akufo Addo whose main focus is to industrialise the rural economy to better living conditions of people.

Mr. Arthur who expressed misgivings at the posture of Mr. Adjei Mensah on developmental projects under the 1D1F, was speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a rubber processing factory at Dompim in the Wassa-East District of the Western Region.

The project, which is being executed by the Natural Rubber Business (NARUBIZ) company Ltd. is expected to be completed within six (6) months by Nazak Construction Ltd.

The factory, when completed, will be the third viable project under the 1D1F initiative coming after an oil palm processing factory and a quarry processing factory and is expected to provide direct and indirect jobs to more than 100 people.

Mr. Arthur, who gave a litany of projects under the 1D1F being sabotaged by the MP in the past, was sad that the MP had lobbied the chief of his hometown who happens to be his kinsman to turn down GHC3,000 for libation to pave way for the sod-cutting ceremony, which the MP and the Chief were apparently absent.

According to the DCE, Mr. Adjei Mensah had told officials of the company that he would not allow the project to be sited in his hometown since it will mar his electoral fortunes in December.

At the sod-cutting ceremony, the DCE identified rubber plantation as the fourth export cash crop in the District hence, government will support such farmers to thrive to boost the local economy.

Mr. Arthur said apart from the Free SHS programme, the 1D1F initiative was the next in terms of major projects earmarked by the NPP government to better the living conditions of Ghanaians.

He disclosed that a palm oil factory was in the pipeline and will come on stream by the end of the year and appealed to the youth to train for a skill in a bid to fit into the job.
