The presidential candidates of the two leading political parties in the country, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are both present at the signing of the Peace Pact for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Both John Dramani Mahama, the NDC presidential candidate, and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia were seen entering the venue of the event together.
In a video, former President Mahama can be seen pointing the way to the venue for Vice President Dr. Bawumia.
The vice president reciprocated by warmly touching the former president.
Another video from the event captured Mahama exchanging pleasantries with some of the other presidential candidates participating in the upcoming election.
The Peace Pact signing ceremony is being hosted by the National Peace Council, in collaboration with the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG), on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
All political parties and their presidential candidates competing in the December 7 elections are expected to attend the event and sign the pact.
The agreement aims to ensure a peaceful electoral process by requiring candidates to commit to maintaining peace before, during, and after the polls.
