The Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Murtala Mohammed, has called on the Minority in Parliament to desist from offering advice and moral lessons to the Majority Caucus on various issues.

He indicated that considering the actions of the current Minority when they were occupying the Majority status during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, they don't have the moral right to admonish them.

In his quest to explain this further, Murtala referred to the Minority as a 'brothel,' a description that triggered the MPs to murmur and question the minister, while he was speaking on the floor of Parliament.

"We are not against any moral lesson given to us by either the Minority or whoever. But one thing we will not accept is that we will not take moral lessons from a brothel... Can I finish speaking? Why are you people so intolerant? Mr Speaker, can I make my point?" he said following the interjections.

Following the murmurings and criticisms, the minister clarified that he did not imply that the Minority MPs were into prostitution or any related activity as assumed.

"I did not speak in Dagbani. When someone says that, that person is not saying that the one who said it is engaged in activities of a brothel; that's not what it means. Even I, who attended a 'syto' school, know the difference. Those of you who claim to have not attended a 'syto' school, you are angry over a simple English language phrase that I have spoken," he clarified.
