A group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters found themselves stranded and pleading for assistance following an event for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO.
A viral video circulating on social media captured the supporters' plight, showing them reaching out to Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), for help.
According to the footage, the supporters claimed to have been bused from Abenase in the Ashanti Region to attend the unveiling of Dr. Prempeh as the running mate of NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Kumasi. However, they were reportedly abandoned at the event site without provisions for food or transportation back to their community.
"We are 26, they are plenty," one of the stranded individuals remarked in the video.
"We couldn't even get water to drink," another lamented, asserting that they had not eaten or had anything to drink.
The NDC chairman assured the stranded supporters that he would provide them with transport fare and food to alleviate their immediate concerns.
They bused people to the rally ground and gave 14cedis to 20 people to share.
