Rev John Ntim Fordjour prayed for the success of John Mahama's government
As the country observed its ritual watch night services on December 31, aside from prophecies delivered by various Ghanaian prophets that have captured the attention of citizens and social media users, one video has emerged that has changed the narratives slightly.
This is a video in which the Rev John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, is seen offering fervent prayers for President John Dramani Mahama, much to the surprise of some people.
In the video, which lasted over a minute and was shared online by GraphicOnline on Thursday, January 1, 2026, Rev Fordjour was seen leading a congregation in an intense prayer session for the sitting president.
He was heard urging the congregation to intercede for Ghana and for President Mahama’s success, stressing the importance of collective prayer for the nation’s progress.
“Our prayer is that Ghana must succeed. Our prayer is that President Mahama must not fail. Whatever political party you belong to, let this be your prayer, because the president must not fail before another takes over from him,” he is heard praying.
He further led the congregation in prayer for President Mahama, asking that he be able to fulfill his four year vision in 2026 and declaring a prosperous year for Ghana.
Rev Ntim Fordjour, who is an MP from the New Patriotic Party flock, also guided them to pray against terrorist attacks and undue hardships in the country, calling on the Lord to be with the president and elevate him to another level of leadership and strength.
“Let us pray for him so that he will fulfill the four year vision God has given him, that 2026 shall be a prosperous and peaceful year for Ghana, that the territorial borders of Ghana shall be safeguarded by the angels of God, that there shall be no infiltration or terrorist attacks. You are praying against undue hardship that the Lord shall be with the president, that when he succeeds wherever he gets to, the Lord shall take him unto another level,” Rev Ntim Fordjour led the congregation to pray.
However, his prayers have sparked widespread conversations on social media, with many questioning whether they were genuine.
Some users pointed out that Rev Ntim Fordjour was rarely seen on the pulpit during the time his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was in power.
Others, however, received the prayers in good faith, while some compared the gesture to whether former President Nana Akufo-Addo had ever been prayed for in a similar manner.
One user wrote, “8 years of NPP and nobody saw this man preaching at his own church.”
Another user claimed, “The TERRORISTS he’s preaching against ARE ALREADY IN GHANA. The Nigerians are so many in Ghana, allegedly with influence in the @GhPoliceService AND the @Gha_Immigration who are helping them evade arrests, getting them Ghanaian birth certificates to process for passports.”

He is on the pulpit yet being evil. He thinks we will not find out. Why not say the president must succeed? God will disappoint them one by one!
