A physically challenged illegal miner fleeing the galamsey site
Two minors caused panic at an illegal mining (galamsey) site after raising a false alarm that police were approaching, triggering a chaotic escape by the miners at the site.
In a video shared on X by State News on May 23, 2026, the children are seen running through the site while shouting, “Police is coming.”
The sudden alarm sent the illegal miners scrambling for safety, with a man with a disabled man hopping away hurriedly as the site is deserted.
Illegal mining continues to cause severe environmental damage across parts of Ghana, polluting water bodies and degrading land, despite ongoing enforcement efforts by successive governments.
