Accra, Sept. 30, GNA - Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, aspiring flag bearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday tasked the delegates attending the December 22, Special National Delegates Congress to watch-out and stand against electoral manipulations.
He said: "NPP stands at the crossroad - to move backward into the political wilderness in opposition again or set a democratic record of winning three general elections consecutively.
"Posterity have ordained the over 2000 delegates to the congress to have their names written with golden ink as being the kingmakers for NPP and eventually giving mother Ghana a capable and competent President to give the country an economic freedom," Prof Frimpong-Boateng told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra.
The Former Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital urged the delegates to critically examine the campaign messages and other wooing antics of the aspirants and decided who to entrust the fortune of the nation, and the future of our dear children. Prof. Frimpong-Boateng who ascribed as "Political Super Tanker," pledged to build in Ghana a free and democratic system of government under which all citizens will be able to contribute to the welfare, peace and prosperity of our nation and keep its people free from dictatorship and oppression.
"I will harness to the full the human and natural resources of the country and ensure development of all Regions and Districts of the country without discrimination", he noted.
"Prof. Frimpong-Boateng will ensure that the wealth of the country is not monopolized by a section or particular area of the country but is fairly shared and enjoyed by all; in particular, to bridge the present wide gap between the urban and rural communities and also improve conditions in depressed urban areas of the country."
The Former Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital vow to reduce the excessive centralization which has characterized Government up to now and ensure as far as practicable that the regions and districts of this country fully participate in deciding matters effecting their development and their well being.
Under my leadership, NPP would continue to promote a well balanced development of agriculture and industry, making the best use of the resources of each area of the country, protects the environment from degradation and repairs the damage done to the environment by wasteful and improper exploitation of our land, forest, marine, and fresh water resources.
"Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng will also ensure that there are equal opportunities for all citizens without discrimination on any grounds whether of gender, age, position, politics, religion or status and above all manage the economy of the country with efficiency and prudence, guided by the consideration of the national interest."
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng explained that most Africans no longer feel the need to sacrifice anymore because each time they did this, their lives got worse off and those of leaders got even better.
He said despite the intelligence of our people and the abundant resources in our possession, we have devalued ourselves to the extent that we think only foreigners can help us out of our misery. "Am offering myself as flag bearer to sift through and resolve the fundamental problems that stifle our development. To my mind the three major problems that we face are the lack of technology, "institutionalized" corruption and the fact that leadership over the years have taken the greatest asset of the nation, its people, for granted," he noted.
"I believe that the greatest difference between the developed and developing nations is technology, which is closely linked to human ingenuity.
"The greatest asset of a nation is the trust and confidence of its people. This should, however, not be taken for granted," he emphasis.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said under his leadership the nation would fight for this great asset by working hard with even handedness for the people in all honesty.
In our part of the world, the human resources has been squandered over the years through misgovernment and corruption to the extent that leaders are not trusted and citizens do not see that they have a stake in their country and its future.
"Our leaders have not been able to invoke nation- building; they have been possessed by an antagonistic spirit and Ghanaians continue to wallow in poverty and are in a state of despair and are not in a position to sacrifice anymore.
"Most Ghanaians and for that matter Africans feel that they have done enough sacrifice without any improvements in their lives. There is a general realization that each time they sacrificed, their lives got worse off because government always took them and their sacrifices for granted thinking they would keep calling for such demands and Ghanaians would keep responding favourably like had been the case in the past." Prof. Frimpong-Boateng urged the delegates to vote for him to transform and offer Ghanaians hope in the nation through effective leadership.
