This year’s Oguaa Fetu Afahye has been marked by memorable and historic moments.

From the exquisite cultural displays to Otumfuo’s historic visit, the celebration has been remarkable in every aspect.

One notable moment during the customary traditions and celebratory events was the emotional response of the Omanhen (Paramount Chief) of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, following a generous donation made by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Asantehene donated an amount of GH¢500,000 for the creation of an educational fund for the development of Oguaa.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude to Otumfuo’s gesture, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II praised Otumfuo for his friendship.

According to him, Otumfuo has consistently shown himself to be a true friend, being present both in times of celebration and in difficult moments.

“Otumfuo, the gesture you have shown this afternoon has made me speechless. When you befriend some people, they don’t show up to support in difficult times and even in celebratory times but since we became friends, you have shown, proven and confirmed that you are a genuine friend and God bless you.”

For accountability and transparency, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II pledged to provide Otumfuo with periodic reports on the disbursement of the funds and the progress made in the educational development of Oguaa.

“You have really honoured us. Apart from the drinks you brought us and for the money you gave us to create an educational fund for the children of Oguaaman, God bless you. I will be giving you periodic reports of how we have used the money you donated,” he said.

The Asantehene embarked on the historic visit on Thursday, September 5, 2024, for the festival which also coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Oguaamanhen, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II.

The Oguaa Fetu Afahye is celebrated annually by the people and leaders of Oguaa in the Central Region in September.

The festival is celebrated to commemorate the migration of the Oguaa people from the north to their current location.
