Watchman and another wanted for theft

Asamankese, Sept 01, GNA - The Asamankese Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a watchman at a Kade Sawmill, Seidu Nuhu and Benjamin Gyasi, on suspicion of having stolen an electric welding machine valued at 30 million cedis.

Their accomplice Nana Yaw Asante, a messenger, has been arrested and put before court on charges of unlawful entry and stealing. His plea was not taken and was granted a 20 million-cedi bail with two sureties and ordered to report once a week to the Kade Police until the case was disposed off.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector G.D. Bruce, said the sawmill owner, Mr Thomas Sampson, employed two watchmen at the sawmill. He said on a night in August one of the watchmen telephoned to informed Mr Sampson by telephone that his colleague watchman had left the factory without informing anyone.

The following morning When Mr Sampson got to the factory h found that the factory had been broken into and an electric welding machine valued at 30 million cedis stolen.
