Water shortage has hit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital over the past three days.
Nurses and healthcare givers are worried that if the situation worsens it could affect healthcare delivery.
He said the nurses at the unit spend a great deal of time in search of water to run the facility. According to him, the taps at the facility have run dry.
“The problem is a general situation around Korlebu and its environs and the hospital has poly tanks it relies on for water supply and therefore health delivery has not been affected,” an official of Ghana’s premier health facility told Starr News.
A visit to the facility revealed that plastic barrels are being used as water reservoirs to serve patients on admission.
The Hospital has, however, refused to officially speak on record about the situation. Starr News understands officials are working around the clock to bring in water tankers to salvage the situation.
