Akontombra(WR), Nov. 07, GNA - An acute water shortage has hit the people of Sefwi-Akontombra in the Sefwi-Wiawso District in the Western Region for the past three months.
One of the two boreholes in the town has broken down leaving only one to serve the 5,000 people in the town.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akontombra, Nana Kwasi Kwarteng Ababio Chief of the town said the nearest river Fanoma that served as the only source of water for the people had water borne diseases.
He said the situation had led to scramble for water affecting economic activities and appealed to the assembly for assistance to remedy the problem.
