The family members from the father side of the late President were also part of the large number of mourners who thronged the the Banquet Hall, to mourn the president.

The delegation was led by Nana Obosu Tartram XII, from Ekumfi Nanabenyin with others including Obaapanyin Akua Asuo, and Nana Hemaa Sarkua II.

The first cousin of the late President, Obaapanyin Abotare, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said when the family members asked the late President to resign because of the insults, he declined because according to him, it was obvious that when people want to make corrections they would definitely meet obstacles.

She said Prof Mills gave the assurance that it had been his wish to serve the country with all his ability to ensure that Ghana took the right place on the continent and therefore the family was disturbed with his demise.

Obaapanyin Abotare said the only advise the family had to give to Ghanaians especially the political parties, was to live in peace with each other, take insults out of their campaigns adding that "that would have been the wish of the Late President for all to live in peace and forge ahead to continue with the good work that he had started".

The President of the Republic of Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Mr Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, Dr Naadu Mills and the son, were the the first to file past the mortal remains of the late President.
