Leadership of the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) has arranged to meet President John Dramani Mahama over their grievances, an official has said.

In an interview with TV3’s Daniel Opoku on Thursday, Raymond Tetteh, a former president of GHOSPA, noted: “It is strange that for three months the president of this land has not mentioned one word about this pharmacists’ crisis.”

“It is very sad,” he stressed.

Mr Tetteh indicated that GHOSPA together with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana will present evidence to the president over the neglect of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) in implementing a directive from the National Labour Commission (NLC).

Last month, Minister of Health, Sherry Ayittey, inaugurated a sub-committee to resolve the grievances of pharmacists within 30 days.

Reports indicate that the sub-committee will direct the ministry of finance to withhold salaries of the pharmacists over the period they have been out of work.

“If we have worked for months without pay, what difference does it make if they take away the salary?” Mr Tetteh asked.
