The 2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is optimistic that the party will secure victory in the 2028 Election.
Addressing party members who visited his residence on Saturday, December 14, 2024, he emphasised the importance of unity and called for cohesion within the party to ensure success in the upcoming elections.
"I feel motivated by your visit this morning. We will pray; if God wills, it is still possible. It is time for the party to be united like never before.
"During the last election, many of our supporters didn’t go out to vote, contributing to our defeat. We need to find ways to ensure that in 2028, all our supporters will turn out to vote. We are hopeful that the party will win the 2028 Election," he noted.
The vice president conceded defeat to his contender, John Dramani Mahama, even before the Electoral Commission’s official announcement.
John Mahama triumphed (56.55%) over Dr. Bawumia, who secured 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).
Following the party's defeat in the 2024 Election, several key figures within the party have criticised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, suggesting that his leadership played a role in the loss.
