“There is fatigue out there about Jerry Rawlings and the things he says. What he said were internally incoherent; I don’t understand...you don’t even know what exactly he wants to say,” said Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako.

The seasoned journalist was speaking to the issue of claims by former President Jerry John Rawlings that his immediate successor, ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor monopolized corruption for himself when he was in office.

Contributing to panel discussions on Wednesday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’, Kweku Baako opined that the founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in a wrong position to accuse another person of corruption because the canker was even more prevalent during his administration.

According to him, the occasion he chose to make those comments “in the first place was wrong. He should have focused on Mandela and his achievements and what we can learn from him instead of making such comments”

“There is no government that has been free of corruption; not Kufuor’s government, not Rawlings’ government and definitely not Nkrumah’s government. What we should be looking at are the laws put in place and the efforts being made to execute those laws...if we continue with Rawlings versus Kufuor, Kufuor versus Mills, we will not get anywhere on this matter (corruption)” he added.
