'We can't give recovery time to injured Kotoko players' - Team’s Doctor

Head of Medical Team of Asante Kotoko Football Club, Dr. Michael Leat has revealed that he does not want to give a time frame when the players will be ready to play any competitive game.

About 17 of the players who were treated and discharged on Thursday July 13, 2017 have been asked to report any new development they witness to the medical team for assistance.

“We can’t give a time frame on when the players will be ready to play.”, he said

Giving conditions of some of them, he said Ollenu had a fractured rib but no word on whether he will require surgery.

The team’s driver on Thursday was taken into theater for surgery on a fractured knee while Polack and Ablordey who sustained leg injuries but are stable are still in the hospital.

The Asante Kotoko team bus was involved in a fatal accident on Wednesday night resulting in the death of the Deputy Equipment officer, Thomas Kofi Obeng Asare and the driver’s mate of the Kia Rhino truck it run into.

According to officials of the party, the driver after overtaking a salon car tried negotiating back to his lane running into the stationary truck in the process.

Head Coach, Steve Polack, Ashitey Ollenu, Evans Quao, Michael Akuffu, Awudu Nafiu, Osei Agyemang, Godwin Ablodey, Baba Mahama, Ahmed Adams and Isaac Amoako suffered various degrees of injuries
